About Me

Hello, my name is Favane Berhanu, and I am the artist behind Mystic Dreamscape.

I have a vivid imagination that often blurs the line between dreams and reality, making it feel like they mesh into one. I was born in Ethiopia and moved to the USA in 2012, where I have lived ever since. Recently, I've been traveling more and exploring the world around me. Interestingly, wherever I travel, I often end up wanting to move there. Traveling is a huge passion of mine. My mind is always wandering, and since I’m not a fan of routine, I feel most like myself when I'm on the move without a set plan.

I love bright colors and enjoy crocheting, knitting, and embroidering. Music is a big part of my life, and I suspect I might have synesthesia because when I listen to music, I see patterns and colors. My current favorite artist is Hiatus Kaiyote, and my favorite song is "Blood and Marrow." I also love "Child's Play" by SZA.

My favorite poet is Mary Oliver. I am an Aquarius moon, and I emotionally resonate most with her poetry. I recently discovered that Mary Oliver is also an Aquarius moon, which might explain that connection! One of her quotes that deeply resonates with me is: "Maybe the desire to make something beautiful is the piece of God that is inside each of us."

My favorite artist right now is Fritz Von Eric. I love their art style, which serves as an inspiration for me. I admire the bold colors and simple backgrounds in Fritz's art, as well as how each piece makes such a powerful statement.

Another artist I love is Gabrielle Tesfaye. I can feel the emotions behind her art, and that's what draws me to her work.

I've always been drawn to art and creating, but it wasn't until recently that I began calling myself an artist. There was a time when I would cringe at my own work, but after doing some inner work, I started falling in love with my creations. My art is an expression of who I am, and my relationship with my art reflects my relationship with myself. When I neglect myself, I create less; when I prioritize myself, I create more and see beauty all around me.
